Community Outreach- Laton Community
As part of our Community Outreach efforts, MEEP expanded our CPR education beyond campus to serve a Latinx community in Central California. Our team traveled over 3.5 hours to bring hands-on BLS/CPR training to community members who may have fewer opportunities to access lifesaving health education. The goal of this visit was not only to teach CPR skills, but also to help close gaps in emergency preparedness by making training more accessible and culturally responsive. Through interactive practice and real-world scenarios, participants learned how to recognize emergencies, start high-quality chest compressions, and take action confidently while waiting for EMS. We were honored to be welcomed by the community and inspired by the commitment of participants to protect their families and neighbors. This trip marks an important step in broadening our impact, and we look forward to building long-term partnerships that allow us to return, train more community leaders, and continue strengthening bystander response in all areas equally.
Community Outreach- ResLife x RAs at Clark Kerr
Through our Community Outreach program, MEEP partnered with UC Berkeley Residence Life at Clark Kerr to deliver an on-site CPR certification course for residents and Resident Assistants. In collaboration with ResLife staff, we certified 20 students and RAs, equipping them with essential, lifesaving skills and the confidence to respond effectively during emergencies in the residence halls. Because RAs and peer leaders are often the first point of contact when something goes wrong, whether it’s a cardiac emergency, choking, or another urgent situation, this training helps strengthen safety where students live and builds a more prepared campus community. The session emphasized practical, hands-on learning, teamwork, and real-world scenarios that reflect the fast-paced environment of residential life. We’re grateful to Clark Kerr ResLife for welcoming us and prioritizing student well-being, and we look forward to continuing partnerships that expand access to high-quality CPR education across campus.
Community Outreach- Roots Free Clinic
Roots Free Clinic is a volunteer-driven free clinic dedicated to improving access to care for uninsured and under-resourced communities through direct services and community health education. In partnership with Roots, we delivered a hands-on CPR session covering high-quality compressions, AED basics, and team-based response using training mannequins—reinforcing preparedness and empowering volunteers to act quickly during medical emergencies.
Community Outreach- Dream Youth Free Clinic
Dream Youth Free Clinic is a community-based organization that provides free basic health services and health education to underserved populations. Through our outreach, we supported their mission by helping train volunteers in CPR and emergency response fundamentals—focusing on practical, high-confidence skills that can be used in clinics, community events, and everyday situations.
Community Outreach- Soccer Without Borders
Soccer Without Borders is a nonprofit that uses soccer as a tool for youth development—creating welcoming spaces where young people (especially newcomers and underserved students) can build community, confidence, leadership, and life skills. Through our outreach, we supported their mission by contributing to hands-on activities and mentorship that promote teamwork, resilience, and a sense of belonging both on and off the field.
